Richard "Rick" Michael Campbell

Richard "Rick" Michael Campbell, 74, of Summerville, SC, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025.

Born on September 20, 1950, in Florence, SC, Rick was the son of the late Rev. Doc M. Campbell and the late Louree Turner Campbell Lambert (the late Harry Lambert, step-father).

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rick, a devoted husband, father, friend, and pillar of the Summerville, South Carolina community. Rick passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and service that touched the lives of all who knew him.

Being part of a minister’s family growing up, Rick and the family lived in various places in South Carolina depending on where his dad was serving. The family moved back to Florence in the late 60’s where Rick attended Southside High School, and where he played football. Being such a people person, it wasn’t long before Rick had many friends attending other schools in Florence.

Rick started his professional career as a police officer for the City of Florence, where he was able to serve his community and personally help many individuals. He coached summer baseball where he had the opportunity to work with young men in the community.

For over four decades, Rick served as a State Farm Insurance agent, building not just a successful career but a true foundation of trust, compassion, and reliability for his clients. His commitment to his work reflected his deeper calling—to care for people, to ease their burdens, and to always do the right thing.

Beyond his profession, Rick was deeply involved in the community he loved so dearly. He generously gave his time and spirit to organizations such as Camp Happy Days, Crime Stoppers, the Lions Club, and the Sertoma Club. His contributions to these causes were not merely acts of service, but reflections of his enormous heart and desire to make the world a better place. In his later years, golf became his passion, and made many great friends on the greens with his fellow golfers.

Rick was beloved by everyone who had the good fortune to meet him. A gentleman in every sense of the word, he radiated warmth and sincerity. His laughter was easy, his words were kind, and his presence had a way of making others feel seen and valued. Rick never met a stranger.

Of all the roles Rick played in his life, none meant more to him than that of family man. He loved his family more than anything in the world. He was a steadfast and loving husband, a proud and supportive father, grandfather, and a loyal friend. His home was always a place of joy, comfort, and unconditional love.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his sister, Renee Miles, of Florence,S.C.

Rick is survived by his wife, Shirle Hickman Campbell; son, Mike Campbell (Mindy); daughter, Blair Campbell; grandchildren: Fallon, Ivy, and Reed; brother, Hal Campbell (Melaine); nieces: Maggie Wilkerson (Richard), Abby Campbell and Brittany Miles; and nephew, Chase Miles.
