Richard Mateo Vargas

Richard Mateo Vargas, 82, of Mount Pleasant, husband to Carol Mildred (Causey) Vargas of 63 years, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 10, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Born on July 19, 1939 in Houston Texas, Richard was a son of the late Max Vargas and Guadalupe Reyna.
Richard was a beloved member of the food and beverage industry and worked with Southern Wine and Spirits for many years before retiring. Prior to that, Richard was also a United States Veteran of the Navy and worked on the Naval Base for many years.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his daughters, Debra Berens and Sharon Vargas Clawson of Mount Pleasant, SC. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. The Memorial Service will immediately following on Thursday, February 17, 2022, 2:00 PM - 3:00PM, at the same location.
