Richard L. Sigmon of Mount Pleasant, SC; died on Wednesday, January 16, following complications from surgery, at the age of 76.
Rick was born December 12, 1942 in Lincolnton, North Carolina. He was the son of William J. and Jane Aycock Sigmon and was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and the University of South Carolina. He was a successful real estate broker in Myrtle Beach, SC and Columbia, SC and he enjoyed fishing, boating and singing folk songs with his brothers. He was very happily married to the former Beth McClure of Columbia, SC; who passed away some years ago.
He is survived by his brothers, James David Sigmon (Catherine) and William J. Sigmon,Jr. (Margaret) and William's daughters, Ashley Sigmon Gore (Robert) all of Mount Pleasant,SC, and Elizabeth Sigmon Hardwick of Little River, SC. Also surviving are William's grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Gore and Cooper Sigmon Gore of Mount Pleasant, SC and William Carson Hardwick and Jane Myatt Hardwick of Little River, SC. And there are David's children, James David Sigmon, Jr. (Lauren) and Lauren Bradbury Smythe (Will) of Greenville, SC, and grandchildren, Libby and Harris Sigmon, and Foster and Emma Smythe.
The family will receive friends at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC on Friday, January 25, 2019; from 5 PM to 7 PM.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Church of the Holy Cross, 2520 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC, 29482.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Holy Cross Building Fund.
