Richard Eugene Bundschuh, II

Richard Eugene Bundschuh II was called to meet his Heavenly Father May 19th having had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease.  He was 43.  

Rich was born on November 23, 1977 in Piqua, Ohio to Richard Eugene Bundschuh and Carmen K Manzitto Bundschuh.   They moved in 1984 to Mt. Pleasant, SC where he attended James B. Edwards Elementary, Moultrie Middle and Wando High School.  Rich was on the golf team starting in 7th grade, honors classes, and worked weekends at the family business.   He was accepted and received appointment to attend West Point, but on the eve of reporting,  was medically declined due to an eye condition, keratoconus.  He decided to attend The College of Charleston where in Statistics class he met Melody.  First they were friends, then began dating after college and then married January 13, 2001.  Rich worked at the family business, Bunch Transport, until 2009 when he was called to join Melody’s financial planning practice.  They ran a successful practice which Melody carries on today.  

Rich was a good golfer, but his true passion was sportscar racing.   He spent his free time in the garage or at the track.   Rich had a deep faith, loved the Lord, studying Biblical truths, discipling others and living in the power of the Spirit.  He was a hard worker, honest to a fault and deeply passionate.        

He is survived by his Father, Rich Sr., his Mother, Carmen, his wife Melody Helms Bundschuh, in-laws, Roger and Dixie Helms, siblings Cyndi Prise, Christy Goldner, Jackie Hardwick, Scott Jorgensen, Dakota Bundschuh, and brother in-law Dr. Brock Helms.  Also many much loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and niece. 

Visitation will be Friday, June 4th at McAllister-Smith Funeral, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 from 4-7pm.   

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 5th at the Church of the Holy Cross at 2520 Middle Street, Sullivan’s Island SC at 2pm. For those unable to attend, please join us online: https://vimeo.com/555325807
