Richard E Barbour Sr., 92, of Charleston, SC died on Friday, June 19, 2015. He was born on Tuesday, October 24, 1922 in Tulsa, OK to the late Mrs. Elizabeth Edelen and the late Mr. Charles Barbour. Richard was a very productive manufacturing sales representative for many years covering the Southeast. He was an avid gardener and loved to share his fruits and vegetables with friends and family, and he absolutely loved to dance. He has been a very active member of the Low Country Senior Center for many years. Richard served in WWII as a Merchant Marine, and received Honoree Awards of Atlantic, Mediterranean and Middle East War Zones. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Godfrey, of Columbia, SC; three sons, Richard E Barbour Jr. (Patty), of Pittsburgh, PA, Larry C Barbour (Nancy), of Toccoa, GA, Bill L Barbour (Connie), of North Charleston, SC; 7 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and loving friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Marjorie L Barbour. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24th, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Nativity Catholic Church on Thursday, June 25th, 2015 at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
