Renee Alphin

Renee Hill Alphin, Columbia, SC, passed away on Friday, December 27th, 2024 with her family at her side. 

Renee was born in Charlotte, NC on October 18, 1953. She was the daughter of Kathryn “Kat” Porter Hill and John Harmon Hill. 

Renee was a devoted mother who spent her life selflessly giving to her family and friends. Early in her son’s lives Renee volunteered countless hours at their school and was named volunteer of the year, an honor she cherished. She spent several years on the yearbook committee with her great friend Donna. 

Renee worked for over 20 years in retail sales at Target Corporation and developed many lifelong friendships including her best friend Joy. 

Renee loved to travel and had visited several countries. She especially loved going to New York City at Christmas. 

Renee is preceded in death by her parents John and Kat Hill.

Renee is survived by her sons, John Alphin (Melanie) and Ryan Alphin (Ashley) both of Columbia SC; granddaughters Julia and Lucy; her former husband and lifelong friend and companion Martin Alphin; her cousin Eddie George; and her best friend of more than 30 years Joy Powers. 

The family will have a private celebration of life on Saturday, January 4, 2025 in Columbia.
