Regina Calhoun Jones, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, February 13, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones in Mount Pleasant, SC. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and touch the lives of those who knew her.
Born on February 15, 1976, in North Charleston, SC, Regina was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of others. She was an exceptional history teacher at Wando High School. Regina's impact extended beyond the classroom and she went on to work for Detyens shipyard. It was there that she became a highly valued Estimating Assistant for the company where she made many friends and spent most of her free time.
Regina's journey began when she graduated from Middleton High School in the class of 1994. Recognizing her thirst for knowledge and love for history, she pursued higher education at the College of Charleston. In 2000, she proudly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. Her academic achievements reflected not only her intelligence but also her determination to make a difference in the world.
Regina embraced life with unwavering positivity and grace. She maintained a positive outlook on life no matter the circumstances and touched the hearts of many through her warm and kind-hearted nature. Her magnetic personality drew people from all walks of life towards her. Regina had an incredible ability to connect with others and forge lifelong friendships.
Outside of her professional life, Regina's proudest accomplishments revolved around her role as a mother. Soon after meeting Jimmy in 2006, she welcomed their first-born child into the world. From that moment onwards, Regina poured all her love and devotion into being a wonderful and protective mother to their three children: Grayson Jones, Reagan Jones, and Ryan Jones. As a mother, Regina's love knew no bounds, and she shaped the lives of her children with unwavering dedication, guiding them to become the best versions of themselves.
Beyond her immediate family, Regina was cherished by her surviving family and friends. She deeply valued the love and support she received from her mother, Qui Calhoun, and her sister, Sheila Calhoun. Regina's father, Elmer Calhoun, and her sister, Theresa Elaine Calhoun, precede her in death. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who loved them.
Regina's love for spending time with her family extended beyond her own household. She relished every moment spent with loved ones and created countless precious memories that will be treasured forever. Her joyful spirit and warm presence brought happiness to those around her.
On February 13, 2024, Mount Pleasant lost a remarkable individual whose impact will be felt for generations to come. Regina Calhoun Jones's legacy as a devoted mother, beloved friend, passionate educator, and caring companion will continue to inspire others to live their lives with love, compassion, and undying positivity.
As we say farewell to Regina in this physical realm, let us remember the lessons she taught us - to embrace life fully and spread kindness wherever we go. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will always remain alive through the memories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In honor of Regina's life and the immense joy she brought into our lives, a memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM, May 5, 2024, at The James Island County Park at Edisto Hall, 871 Riverland Drive, Charleston, SC 29412. May we find solace in cherishing the memories we shared with this extraordinary woman who enriched our lives beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Breast Cancer Research in her honor.
