Ralph Ryan Barwick, known as “PaPa†to his grandchildren, age 88, of North Charleston, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday September 4, 2014. He was born June 26, 1926 in Sumter, SC. He married Laura Ard on October 23, 1943 and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Ralph was a respected building contractor and construction company owner for over 40 years. After retirement, he drove dealer trades for the Rick Hendrick Organization up until he was 78 years old. He was a member of the First Congressional Church, Walhalla Masonic Lodge No. 66 and former member of The Scottish Rite and Omar Shrine Temple. One of his greatest loves was that of music and he shared it with anyone willing. He would spend countless hours compiling CDs for family and friends. His family remembers him as an unselfish, giving, loving husband and father. PaPa would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. Ralph is survived by his wife of 70 years, Laura (Ard) Barwick of North Charleston; sons, Edward R. Barwick (Marty) of Columbia, Lloyd E. Barwick (Wynell) of North Charleston, and Cecil R. Barwick (Roxann) of Moncks Corner; grandchildren, Lori Barwick Kunce, her husband Scott and their children, Cameron, Becca, and Natalee of Summerville, Eddy Barwick and his daughters, Abigail and Madison of Summerville, Amanda Barwick Raymond and her husband Jeremy of Moncks Corner, Brad Barwick of Moncks Corner, and Tyler Barwick of Moncks Corner.
