Quitman Reed Wakeley III, 51, of James Island, SC, entered into rest at his residence on Monday, June 8, 2015. He was born in Augusta, GA, and was a graduate of North Augusta High School in North Augusta, SC. Quitman worked in the heating and air business in Augusta with D. A. Story and with Sig Cox. Following Hurricane Hugo in 1989, he moved to the Charleston, SC, area and started his company, Wakeley Heating and Air. He was respected for his knowledge in troubleshooting heating and air problems. He was fun-loving and had a great personality. He enjoyed boating, fishing and cooking, and loved his dogs, Tawney and Cocoa. Survivors include his wife, Anna Wakeley and his son, Quitman Wakeley, IV of James Island, SC; daughter, Katie Hartley of Johns Island, SC; father, Reed Wakeley, Jr. and his wife, Jeri, of North Augusta, SC; and sister, Meredith Fent and her husband, Doug, of Beaufort, SC; additional family members include an uncle, nephew, niece, great-aunt, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home James Island, on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends afterwards, until 5:00 PM.
