Peter Eugene Hoekendorf

Peter Eugene Hoekendorf, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on July 16, 2024. 

Born on May 2, 1938, in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Helen M. (nee McKee) Hoekendorf and Eugene Phair Hoekendorf. 

Peter is survived by his Sister, Jean Nauta, of Pennsylvania, son, Eugene Henry Hoekendorf of Mexico, daughters, Doris Perkins-Liland of New Jersey, Gretchen Bell of South Carolina and Holly Bell-Victor of South Carolina, grand- children, Christopher Liland of California, Mathew Liland of California and Carissa Liland of Florida, nephew, Christopher Nauta and his Wife Becky of Pennsylvania, neice, Janet-Sue Nauta-Russell and two great-neice/nephews of Pennsylvania.

Peter is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine J. Hoekendorf and his son, Erick Hoekendorf. 

Peter retired from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Teamsters Joint Council 73 in New Jersey as Secretary/Treasurer, being elected seven consecutive times. He was a Lifetime Member of the Antique Truck Club of America and attended the Macungie, Pennsylvania Truck Show and Flea Market annually with friends. He was a train enthusiast who loved to watch when they passed and could tell you what kind of train it was. He loved gardening and traveling. Peter was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the V.F.W. 

Services will be held in May 2025 in Towaco, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, the Family requests you make memorial contributions to your favorite charity.
