Paul Jennings Patterson, 64, Monck’s Corner, passed away suddenly on September 30, 2015. He was born in Charleston, WV, on September 2, 1951, to the late Doris and James Patterson. Paul was a 1969 graduate of Charleston High School, and attended Morris Harvey College, now the University of Charleston, in West Virginia. He began his 36 year employment with the DuPont Plant in Belle, WV. As a respected and cherished employee at DuPont, he was able to excel laterally until he finally retired as a Human Resource Manager for the Charleston, SC plant. The DuPont family knows Paul for his genuine and engaging leadership style. He was also an active contributor to the community. As a member of the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, he was honored to join Burke Middle/High School, as “Principal For a Day’. A few local charities close to his heart are the Angel Tree, United Way, and The Wounded Warrior Project. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Elizabeth (Libby) Raines Patterson; son James Lewis Patterson, II and daughter Ashley Elizabeth (Chris) Coleman; grandchildren Autumn, Alexander, and Paisley; Brother Alan (Tina) Patterson; sister Rebecca J. Parsley; aunt, Sue Pryce; brother-in-law Dennis (Jana) Raines; sister-in-law Trudie (Al) Johnson; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Gregory Patterson, aunts and uncles Mildred and Charles Compton, Anna and Daryl Williams, Earl J. Knight and Betty Knight, James Pryce; mother and father-in-law, Earl and Mae Raines.
