Paul O'Neal Garrett

Paul O’Neal Garrett, 97, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family at home on June 4, 2022.

Paul was born September 10, 1924, in Moore, SC to the late Kate Steadman Garrett and Langdon C. Garrett.

Paul served three years on active duty in the US Army during World War II, participating in the Battle of Germany and later serving with the European Occupation Forces. He completed his military career in the US Army Reserve. He served 40 years with the US Government, first with the Post Office and later with the Treasury Department as a Senior Supervisory Customs Inspector. Paul took great pleasure woodworking, repairing small engines, fishing, and shrimping. He dearly loved his church, First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents Kate and L.C. Garrett, his wife Carolyn Garrett, brother L.C. Garrett and Grandson Paul Sessions.

Paul is survived by his son Norman (Anita) Garrett of Anderson, SC, and daughters Linda Garrett of Ravenel, SC, Donna (Philip Bailey) Bailey of North Charleston, SC, and Nancy (Steve Lainer) Garrett of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He has nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29464. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29464, at 10:00 am Friday, June 10, 2022, with Military Honors, and burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406.
