Patsy Ruth Byars

Patsy Ruth Byars, 90 of Charleston, SC, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023.  Born on May 3, 1932, in Paris, TX, she was the daughter of the late Fannie Hudson Washington and Clarence Washington.

Patsy was a loving wife and mother. Her family was the most important thing to her and loved them with her whole heart. She was loved by all her friends and family. She had a huge heart and cared for everyone. She was always ready to give a helping hand to whoever may need it. She was passionate about gardening and loved flowers and birds, especially bluebirds.

Along with her parents, Patsy is preceded in death by her husband Richard, brother Earl Washington and sister Edna Young.

Patsy is survived by her daughters Donna Blish, and Teresa Ivey (Dickie), son Michael Byars, 4 grandchildren, Carrie, Erin, Anthony (Melanie), Christina (Jon), and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home - James Island Chapel located at 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 11:00 am at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home - James Island Chapel located at 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. 

The Burial will follow at Carolina Funeral Homes and Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406.
