Patrick Kane Moffly Age 23 passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 4, 2016. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina to his parents David and Elizabeth Moffly on November 27, 1992. Patrick known as “Patch†to his family was a loyal and faithful son and brother. He was a kind, outgoing, and friendly guy. He had an amazing sense of humor and a hearty laugh. “Spilly Pat†as he was fondly known to his many friends was a joy to be around and was always the life of the party. He never knew a stranger. He always greeted the ladies with a cheerful “ Hello Beautifulâ€. Patrick loved meat and hated vegetables. He never met a bacon product that he didn’t like. Patrick was an avid surfer, skate boarder, snow boarder, and wake boarder. Patrick loved being on the water with his family and friends. He was an adventurer and loved the outdoors. He was trained as an Outdoor Leader at Costa Rica Outward Bound. He was a white water kayak guide, a wilderness rescue first responder, and highly proficient with climbing ropes. Patch attended Wando and graduated from the Liberal Arts Academy. He was a student at Trident Technical College and the College of Charleston. He cooked in several of Charleston’s restaurants and worked on the family farm. Patrick is survived and will be missed by his parents David and Elizabeth Moffly of Awendaw, SC, his brother Andrew of Awendaw, his sisters Bridget and Sarah also of Awendaw, his grandfather J. Edward Knowles of Charlotte, NC, his aunts and uncles Sara and Walter Kiley of Marietta, GA, Edward Moffly of Miami, FL, George Moffly of NY, NY, John Moffly and Lily Wu of San Francisco, CA, J. Edward Knowles Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Thom and Nancy Knowles of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer and Andrew Kreek of Chattanooga, TN, and Scott and Angela Knowles of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his cousins Nick and Peter Kiley, Aria, Alex, and Evan Bronstein Moffly, Natasha and Katy Knowles of Charlotte, NC, and last but not least his nephew Ivan Gabbard of Lexington, KY. We thank Patrick for giving his family and friends such happiness, his unwavering companionship, and love. In lieu of flowers please make donations in his memory to Surfrider Foundation. Please come celebrate Patrick at his Bohemian Life Ceremony to be held at the Charleston Maritime Center located at 10 Wharfside Street Charleston, SC on Wednesday March 9, 2016. Visitation will be held at 2 pm and a service at 4pm which will be followed by a reception. Casual attire please.
