Tony "The GOAT" McGuiness, 67, of Charleston, SC, husband to Anna Edgeworth McGuiness for 39 years, entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2022. An avid deer hunter, Tony passed while doing what he loved.
Born on June 5, 1954 in Charleston, SC, Tony was a son of the late Ermine McGuiness and Willoughby "Chat" McGuiness.
Tony, a James Island native, could always be found either hunting with his buddies or shark fishing with his wife throughout the Lowcountry. If it was in season and you could catch or hunt it, chances are "The GOAT" was after it. Tony spent the majority of his time hunting at his cabin at Big Survey Plantation in Yemassee. Once a father, you could either find Tony at Big Survey or the local ball fields with his boys . He loved coaching baseball , but his real passion was taking his boys hunting, riding 4-wheelers, and enjoying the outdoors. Tony started working for H.R. Allen in 1989 and was a loyal employee for 32 years before semi-retiring last year.
Besides his wife Anna, Tony is survived by his 2 sons Bryan (Brandy) of Charleston and Chris (Allyson) of Charlotte and their 4 grandchildren (Easton, Milly, Bryce, and Eloise) who were the light of his life. He is also leaving behind his sister-in law Joyce (Mark) Hood of James Island and his many cousins, nieces and nephews from the McGuiness and Rantin families.
The family will receive friends on January 5th, 2022 at 10am at James Island Baptist Church (2023 Wappoo Drive, 29412).
The Celebration of Life will be held at the Church at 11am following the visitation.
Flowers & memorial contributions will be accepted at James Island Baptist Church. Contributions for "The GOAT" can also be made to the family who will be planting trees and memorial plaques at the two plantations where he loved to hunt.
