Patricia Louise Watson

April 26, 1935 — September 28, 2020

Patricia Louise Watson (nee Lordan and previously Haney) passed from this earth on Sept 28th quietly in her sleep after a battle with oral cancer. She leaves behind a grieving husband, Carroll "Gene" Watson, three children: Cheri Clark, Shelly Sanders and Greg Haney, and her beloved grandkids: Chane Clark, Alexis Haney, Lonz Sanders and Zane Sanders.

In Black Panther, T'Challa says "In my culture, death is not the end." Their ancestors that have passed on are still a source of strength & guidance for the living. Well. We don't live in Wakanda, the beautiful and spiritual city he ruled in that movie, but we can take page out of their guidebook. She lives on with us all.

She kept her sense of humor and her incredible memory to the end. And her motorcycle license.

Her grandkids called her "The Buddha", because of her always available sage advice.

Many lessons were learned from the Buddha. Like, any non-Harley Davidson motorcycle is a "neener" bike. That is of course until her Harley got too heavy for her to handle, and she traded it in for a neener-bike, and then they were just "lightweights". Or all grandkids are gods gift to the world. And life is better with a dog, especially if they're big enough to knock you over and scare the neighbors but are big teddy bears at heart. Also, the greatest heartbreak is the loss of a grandchild.

She spent her working life, after earning a master's degree in audiology, as an audiologist. This, after starting off her working life, just after high school, as one of the original cable girls. She was famous among those that knew her for her chocolate turtles, her pulled pork and a dessert everyone in the family knows as "stuff".

She will be greatly missed, was a legend in her own time within her family, and will live on in our hearts and our memories. And we all know she's riding free and happy, with her grandson who passed before her, and that gives us joy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send a donation, if you're so inclined, to her favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
