Patricia Ann Hoban

Patricia Hoban passed away on August 29, 2020, due to complications from brain cancer. She was 81 years old.

Patricia - or Pat, as she was known to friends - was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She loved to be surrounded by friends and family - hosting luncheons, weekend getaways, and holiday gatherings. She will be remembered for always placing the needs of others before her own.

Though Pat's health was failing for more than 3 years, her sense of humor, joyful spirit, and zest for life stayed with her to the end.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 59 years James A. Hoban, her three children: James M. Hoban of Jacksonville; Bridget M, Willis of Charleston; and Kathleen A. Leen of Mt. Pleasant; and her brother Donald Swogger of Youngstown. She is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pat requested an intimate service not far from her home. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness and her last days.

For those who have known Pat in her fruitful journey with us, her service will be held at the McAlister-Smith Funeral Home of Mt.Pleasant,1520 Rifle Range Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 2946 on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 3:00PM. We will have a visitation just prior from 2:00pm - 3:00pm.

The family asks that memorial gifts be directed in lieu of flowers in support of glioblastoma cancer research to the MUSC Foundation/Hollings Cancer Center, 18 Bee Street, MSC450, Charleston, SC 29425 or in support of hospice care to Roper St. Francis Foundation - Hospice Care, 125 Doughty Street, Suite 790, Charleston, SC 29403.
