Pamela was born on Sept 7, 1943 in Harrisville, WV, and was the daughter of (the late) Freda Burns Smith and Willard Smith.

Pam was a graduate of Fairmont State Teachers College with a degree in drama and English. The family moved to Atlanta and it was there that she participated in the choir of Peachtree Methodist Church and a local singing group called the The Peach Pipes; where they would sing for patients in nursing homes and children's hospitals.

After another move and a few years in New York supporting Doug's career, they finally retired and moved to Charleston, SC, where she continued her music. She was part of the Isle of Palms Methodist Church choir, and a coral group, The Coastal Belles, again entertaining in nursing homes and hospitals.
