Paige Somers Osbon, 47, of Charleston, beloved wife of Timothy Barton Osbon for 24 years, entered into eternal rest on December 30, 2020, surrounded by her family and closest friends. In addition to her husband, Paige is survived by their two precious children, Keillor and Emerson, and her devoted brother Steven and his wife Amanda Tieder Somers of Greer, SC.
Born on June 18, 1973 in Greer, Paige was the daughter of the late Robert Page Somers and Angeline Newell Somers. In her young life, she was an active member of the youth group at Greer First Baptist Church and attended Greer High School. She matriculated at Winthrop University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. After her marriage in 1996, she lived in Bethesda, MD, and Columbia, SC, before establishing a permanent home in Charleston. She was an accomplished tennis player and participated in competitive leagues around the Low Country. She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, church activities, long days on the beach, boating, travel, and organizing social events around James Island.
Paige avidly believed and lived Margaret Mead's maxim: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." She had a unique passion for service that led her to organize Dames Take Action, a group of women dedicated to community service and established Compass Harbor, a non-profit organization, to prevent teenagers aging out of foster care from becoming homeless. As a member at James Island Presbyterian Church (JIPC), Paige was active as a Youth Elder-elect and PYC leader.
She was a truly amazing wife, mother, and compassionate friend to all that crossed her path. Her guiding principles were born out of her commitment to Jesus Christ and she never failed in demonstrating generosity and love to everyone she ever met. Her infectious laughter, ebullience for life, and unyielding faith will forever be an inspiration to the countless lives she has touched and enriched.
The private church service will be held at James Island Presbyterian Church and the private burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Due to the global COVID pandemic, attendance at the church and graveside ceremony is extremely restricted and those who loved Paige are asked to join in a live stream of the service at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. (www.jamesislandpc.org/live-stream/).
A memorial service celebrating her beautiful and selfless life will be held on her birthday this summer at the James Island Yacht Club.
