Norma Gene Roukous

Norma Gene Roukous, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. 

Born on May 5, 1931, in Meadville, PA, she was the daughter of Gertrude Kearney Boyd and Gerald Boyd. She earned her nursing degree from The School of Nursing at Slippery Rock College in Meadville, PA. A registered nurse and lifelong healthcare educator, Norma's career reflected her profound compassion and deep commitment to others. She dedicated herself to nurturing not only her patients but also her community, sponsoring and contributing generously to St. Jude Children's Hospital and St. Joseph's Lakota School. Through her energizing spirit and selfless giving, Norma touched lives across generations and helped pave the way for brighter futures for countless children and families.

Norma had a contagious warmth, and to know her was to know the comfort of a true, genuine embrace. Her hugs were legendary-so full of love and care, and lasted minutes. Her smile lit up her whole face, and her home was filled with family photos, crafts from her grandchildren, sweet keepsakes, and football. Family was at the center of her world, and she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with unmatched devotion. She was known to care for and take in those in need through her life; she was a constant source of strength, encouragement, and joy to all who were fortunate to be in her circle, filling their lives with hugs, comfort, and kindness.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice Roukous; her brother, James Boyd; and her son, Richard Roukous, Norma is survived by her cherished children. She also leaves behind her 12 adored grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart and will carry forward her loving legacy.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, they kindly ask for memorial contributions to be made in Norma's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org, a cause she held dear.
