Nina Allene McArthur

Nina Allene McArthur (née Erlendson), 95, of Daniel Island, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 2, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Robert John McArthur.

Nina was born on July 22, 1928, in Akra, ND to the late Gunnar John Erlendson and the late Skulina Elizabeth Erlendson. She was the third of ten children and was the sister of Marjorie Redding, William Erlendson, Vernon Erlendson, Lloyd Erlendson, Frances McArthur, June Hill, Gayle Gray, Ronald Erlendson, and Gary Erlendson. 

During her youth, Nina was an active member of the Vidalin Icelandic Church of Akra, ND where she taught Sunday school and sang in the Icelandic choir.  She later served as deputy register of deeds in Cavalier, ND. She married Robert John McArthur and moved to California where she attended the Academy of Stenographic Arts in San Francisco and subsequently worked for the State of California. During this time, her son Timothy and her daughter Robin were born. A loving mother and an excellent cook, Nina enjoyed reading, travel, and being with her family. 

Nina was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially her son, Timothy McArthur and his spouse, Brenda, of Folsom, CA; her daughter, Robin Long and her spouse, Gary, of Mount Pleasant, SC; her grandchildren: Katrina Ward and her spouse, James, of Folsom, CA; Kaitlin McArthur of Folsom, CA; Magnus McArthur of Folsom, CA; Bijou Long of Mount Pleasant, SC; and her great-grandson, Gunnar Ward, of Folsom, CA; as well as a host of other relatives. 

A private graveside service will be held on February 8, 2024, at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464
