Nathen Douglas Head

Dr. Nathen Douglas Head, of Charleston, SC, passed away in a tragic car accident on November 18, 2023, at the age of 37.

Nathen was born in Plymouth, MA to Eroca Shmuhl and Douglas Head and raised in Columbia, SC. After graduating from Spring Valley High School, Nathen attended Presbyterian College where he graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences. Nathen went on to earn his Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from The Medical University of South Carolina. Nathen was married to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Juliana. 

Nathen was a devoted husband and loving father to their four beautiful children. It was his joy to be a true servant both to his family and those around him. Nathen cherished time with his family whether at home, at the ball field, or on a Disney vacation. Nathen adored his wife, Juliana. What was best for her was best for him. He will always be admired as a father, leader, and husband. 

Nathen was also a highly skilled dentist, an outstanding drummer and marksman, and enjoyed tactical competitions. His gentle and easy-going nature put those around him at ease. You could count on Nathen to have a great playlist, a stylish watch, and a sense of humor to make you laugh. He was hardworking, patient, loyal, and kind. He was firm in and driven by his faith in Jesus. Nathen was strong and steady to all those around him.

Nathen is survived by his wife of 16 years, Juliana, and their children: Reiland, Adeline, Ivaleigh, and Brady; his parents, Eroca Shmuhl (Michael) and Douglas Head; his brother, Stevhan Head (Karen); in-laws, Robert Antonelli (Gena); brother-in-law, Layton Powers (Gracie); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
