Nancy Spurlock Traynor

Nancy Spurlock Traynor, 69, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. 

Born on May 28, 1954, in Elk City, OK, she was the daughter of the late JoDean Whitacre Spurlock and the late Charles Spurlock. 

Nancy was born in Elk City, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood through young adult years in Hutchinson, Kansas; Kansas City, Kansas; and Dallas, TX. Nancy graduated from University of North Texas in 1976. 

After marrying Albro Traynor in 1982, they spent many exciting years living in cities like Atlanta, Georgia; Providence, Rhode Island; Charlotte, North Carolina; Austin, Texas, and ultimately Charleston, South Carolina. Her daughter, Kimberly Traynor, son in law, John Davis and three grandchildren were so grateful to enjoy over 15 happy years living in the same city.

Nancy was strong, intelligent, dignified, and beautiful. She greatly enjoyed the companionship of her 8 beloved dogs throughout her life. She loved Key West, Paris, London, and all things Texas.  Nancy loved music, classic movies and books, a well-kept home, and intelligent conversation. She left a strong impression on everyone she met, showing integrity and kind regard. One of her favorite verses was Hebrews 13:2 "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares". 

The impact Nancy had on family and friends was profound and she will leave a great legacy and also, a great void in her absence. 

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Al Traynor.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Traynor (John Davis); and her three grandchildren. She was devoted to and loved her siblings, Carolyn Giffin and Chuck Spurlock, as well as her three beloved nephews and their beautiful children. She deeply enjoyed sharing laughter, happy memories, and long traditions with all her family!
