Nancy Sheridan Cook Law, 78, of Columbia, SC passed away on September 3, 2024.
She was born July 14, 1946 in Columbia, SC, the daughter of the late Frances Edith Sheridan and William Roy Cook, Sr. She lived in Charleston, SC as a young child. In 1956, the family moved to Hartsville, SC. Nancy graduated from Hartsville High School in 1964 and from Columbia College in 1968. She married herformer husband, the late John Latta Law (ret Lt.Colonel), and lived in Spartanburg, SC before moving to Columbia, SC in 1980.
In 1994, she became assistant and paralegal to Patricia Harrison, a Columbia attorney. After 20 years of rewarding work, she retired to have time to pursue her varied interests.
Nancy was a member of St John's Episcopal Church and was a founding member of the St. Veronica's Guild, the gardening guild that takes care of the Biblical Garden. Tending to the many gardening projects in her yard brought her much joy. She loved the beach, reading, traveling, music, and hiking in the mountains of North Carolina. She was a member of The Current Literature Club. She cherished time spent with her many friends and loved ones. However, her greatest joy was time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Stephen Latta Law (Carrie) of Welford, SC, John McIver Law (Stacey) of Hanahan, SC; grandchildren, Clayton Lancaster Law, Owen McIver Law, and Eliose Glen Law. Also surviving are her brother, Dr. William Roy Cook, Jr. (Sherry) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and her sister Sheri Cook Sloan (Edwin) of Inman, SC and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service followed by a reception in the church gardens will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2024, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 2827 Wheat Street, Columbia, SC 29205.
