Muriel "Bonnie" Earle Lyon

Muriel " Bonnie" Lyon entered eternal rest on June 8, 2024, after a brief illness at her home in the senior living community of The Benton House of West Ashley in Charleston, SC. She was 87.

Bonnie was born in 1937, and raised along with her brother, Frank "Bud" T. Earle, Jr. (predeceased 2019) in White Plains, NY, by her parents  Frank T. Earle, Sr. and Muriel T.  Earle, where she was a parishioner at St Bernard's Church. She was a 1955 graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy in White Plains, NY where she excelled on the school basketball team. In 1954, Bonnie became the first women athlete to win the Westchester County NY Con Edison award given to the most outstanding high school athlete of the week.

She graduated in 1959 from Adelphi College in Garden City, NY. That same year she married Jack W Lyon of Tarrytown, NY.

Bonnie spent her professional career as the Director of Physical Education at Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy where she also was head coach of many of the successful sports teams including basketball and tennis. In her later years, she was named as the Good Counsel Academy Dean of Students.

After her retirement, Bonnie lived by the ocean on Long Beach Island in New Jersey, which brought her some of her fondest memories with her family and friends. She attended St. Francis of Assisi Parish where she also worked as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

Bonnie will always be remembered for her passion, her love and devotion to her Catholic faith and to her family and lifelong friends. She loved music and playing trivia games. She had an indomitable spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. Bonnie had an enduring impact on all of those whose lives she touched.

Bonnie is survived by her three children who deeply miss her: Tracey Lyon Angel (Barry) of Stewartstown PA, William Earle Lyon (Heather) of Newtown PA and Richard Edward Lyon (Rebecca) of Mt. Pleasant SC.  She is also survived by her 6 loving grandchildren: Emily, Gregory, Victoria, Sean, Julia and Justin.
