Milton Herring, 73, of Moncks Corner, SC, passed away June 9, 2014. Born in Lumberton, NC, he was the son of the late, Raymond and Martha Smith Herring and husband to Joyce Martin Herring. Mr. Herring served his country in the United States Coast Guard for twenty two years, retiring as a Boatswain’s Mate Chief. He later worked in refrigeration repair for many years after his retirement. Milton enjoyed building things around his home and loved being with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Herring; son, Craig Herring and wife Susan of Lexington; three grandchildren, Olivia, Evan and Allen Herring, all of Lexington; brother, Daniel Herring of North Carolina; three sisters, Annie Ruth Cook, Louise Little and Pat Simmons, all of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Sylvia Herring of Moncks Corner; niece, Sherilyn Rivers of James Island. Milton was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, R.C. Herring and Ray Herring. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
