Mills Hurley Hingerty, III

Mills (Bob) Hurley Hingerty III, 87, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 29, 1937, in Suffolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Horton Jundt and Mills Hingerty.

Mills dedicated twenty years of his life to serving his country as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force. During his time in the military, he earned numerous commendations for his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to his duties. Following his military service, he transitioned to a 19-year career at DuPont. After his retirement from both careers, he advanced his education at Trident Technical College, where he earned a certificate in advanced air conditioning/refrigeration. With this qualification, he and a fellow classmate successfully established and operated their own HVAC business.

Mills was not only a dedicated professional but also a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Melba Hingerty "Sweetie"; siblings: Randy Hingerty and Becky Belvin; daughters: Deborah Fly (Thomas), Barbara Cawley (Russell), Dana Coulsting (Keith), Cheri Forsythe (Derek); twelve grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mills's legacy of service, kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Riverbluff Church, 5421 Riverbluff Pkwy, North Charleston, SC 29420. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
