Milagros S. Lamar

October 8, 1931 — March 15, 2021

Milagros Santiago Lamar was born on October 8, 1931 in Comerio, Puerto Rico. She lived a life of simplicity and holiness, dedicated to her husband, family and others.

After graduating with a degree in medical technology from Loyola University in New Orleans, she met her husband-to-be, Carlos Lamar, Jr. who was completing a medical degree at Tulane University. They have been married for 66 years and raised 5 children.

Milagros and Carlos were very dedicated to their Catholic faith, and Milagros had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. She often invoked the names of "Jesus, Mary and Joseph" in prayer. She also loved the Rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and reading the Bible. Her selfless love and warm compassion for everyone was her nature.

She and her husband have lived in Meggett, S.C. for 40 years. She died in her home on March 15, 2021 at 7:15 PM surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Carlos and their five children, Rebecca, Michael, Vivian, Andrew and Fred, as well as 14 grandchildren.

Rite of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Yonges Island, SC.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Charleston, SC.
