Michael Dean Burbage, 83, of Hanahan, SC was called into the arms of the Lord on January 19, 2024. "Big Daddy" as he was called by some, had a peaceful reunion with Our Savior at home.
Michael was born July 29, 1940 to Molly and Bert Burbage of Charleston, SC. He graduated from Moultrie High School in 1958. After graduation he joined the Navy, serving on the Sub-Tender AS 16 Gilmore. He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as an Electrician. He received a certificate in Computer Technology from Trident Technical College. He was employed by GSA Security Guard and later Randy Burbage Equipment Co.
His hobbies were all types of hunting, especially deer hunting. He belonged to Rush Pond Hunting Club. His best times were hunting with his step-son, Paul Lord, grandson Kyle Dyson and brother Randy Burbage. He was a Nascar racing fan. Past Exalted Ruler of Charleston Elks Lodge #242, member of Charleston West Moose Lodge, Charleston Rifle Club, SCV Secession Camp #4 and 10th SC Confederate Reenactors, American Legion Post 166 Goose Creek, Washington Light Infantry, South Carolina National Guard Company B-118th Infantry, Hanahan Senior Center and he dabbled in Taxidermy. Michael was a man of strong principles and was loved by all who knew him. "What do you say Bubba" was his favorite greeting.
In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his son Mickey Burbage.
Mike is survived by his wife, Cindy A Lord Burbage, daughter Michelle Daly (Todd), Step-daughter Paulette Dyson (Mike), Step-son Paul Lord, stepson Michael Lord, seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons, Brothers Randy Burbage (Judy), Butch O'Brian (Beth), sisters, Rhonda McCard, Candy Hatchell and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 11am to 12:00PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 869 St James Ave, Goose Creek, SC 29445. A Memorial service will immediately follow in the McAlister-Smith Funeral Chapel 12:00PM.
