Michael Norman Auger, 67, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
Funeral services for Michael will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation- Mount Pleasant, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
Michael was born in Schaumburg, IL to Norman and Mary Auger on January 29th, 1957. He went to school at Robert E. Perry High in Rockville, MD. He married Cari Auger in Arlington, VA. He worked in mechanical contracting for 40 years and then got his dream job as a Quality Assurance Inspector for Boeing and retired in June of 2024 after 13 years of prideful work.
Michael was an active and compassionate member of his community, contributing in numerous ways throughout his life. He attended the robust program of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department Citizens Police Program due to his interest in law enforcement along with honoring his father’s legacy and his brother’s accomplished and seasoned career in law enforcement. His passion for community service extended to raising awareness for Pet Helpers Organization, and he also dedicated time to supporting the Charleston Jewish Community kids fair.
One of his greatest achievements was his unwavering commitment to sharing his knowledge and helping others. Whether assisting someone with mechanical issues or offering guidance in other areas where help was needed, he was always eager to lend a hand. His devotion to his work was also recognized in his career at Boeing, where he earned numerous awards for his pride, integrity, and excellence. Along with being a successful president to his communities HOA program.
An avid sports fan, he supported the Washington Football Team (formerly the Redskins) and the Washington Capitals for over four decades, further strengthening his connection to his community. He also became a respected figure in local hockey leagues, known as one of the best referees and quickest goalies to catch a hockey puck. He was pursuing to become a pilot and achieved his second solo flight. He is a pilot to all of us!
In addition to his professional and sports involvement, he had a deep passion for World War II history, along with many other historical events, and became a source of knowledge and inspiration to those around him. His father was in the 390th bomb group during WWII and a Top Turret Gunner on a B-17 bomber and Michael carried on that passion through aviation. His ability to inspire people of all ages to explore new career paths and pursue their passions was truly remarkable.
Through his dedication to serving others, his profound knowledge, and his devotion to making a positive impact, Michael touched the lives of many and left a lasting legacy.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Norman Auger and Mary Auger; his siblings, Cynthia Goodman, Jack Gittings, Gary Spinella and Jim Gillin; and his beloved animals, Tawny and Sadie.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Cari Auger; His daughter, Susie and her Husband Matthew; his siblings, Denise Gillin, Michele Spinella, Stephen Auger and wife Maureen Auger, Mary Anne Doran and her husband Steve Doran; along with his In laws, Melissa and her Husband Craig Wilson and Greg Goodman and his Husband Alan Kelly; His Grand Daughter, Charlotte; a host of many nieces and nephews that cared for him and called him a Great uncle to have; and his 2 sweet Golden Retrievers, Gabby and Emma.
