May R. Burn

May "Gwennie" R. Burn, 96, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

Born on August 20, 1928, in Charleston, SC, May was the daughter of the late Claudia Clarissa Murray Groves and the late Theodore Ernest Ridgeway.

May's father died when she was only three weeks old. She was placed into the Charleston Orphanage when she was three years old, during the depression. A few years after May graduated from Murray High School, she married Ashley Van Lair Burn. Together, they raised four children in Charleston. May enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching and gardening. May spent most of her life being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family will remember her as a kind and loving mother.

In addition to her parents, May is preceded in death by her five siblings.

May is survived by her sons, Ashley Burn (Joni) and Steven Burn (Paula); daughters, Susan Sellers (Bruce) and Sandra Dickinson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Rd in Charleston, South Carolina.
