Maxson Thomas Matheny, 14, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina died, Sunday, July 1, 2018.
He was born on October 2, 2003 in Guangzhou, China to Michael and Heather (Mitchell) Matheny.
Survivors include Michael Matheny , Heather Matheny , Meredith and spouse Timmy Jones, Mitchell Matheny , Mallory Matheny , Maggie Matheny , Carolyn Mitchell , Charles Mitchell , Linda Matheny.
Max was full of light with a kind soul beyond his years. With his almond eyes and sparkling, perfect smile, he melted our hearts the first time we saw his face. Our sweet Max loved reading books, eating, playing with his Legos, inventing gadgets, working in the garden with his Mama C, fishing, frequent trips to the library, beach and Goodwill, and most of all, being with his family, especially around the dinner table. Max was always concerned about others more than himself; he truly had a servant's heart. Max was always happy, but he was happiest on Sunday going to church wearing his blue linen suit. To know him was to love him. He came into this world in a weak body but his spirit was truly mighty. We know that when Max was embraced by the arms of His Savior Jesus Christ, he knew Him because he had become like Him.
The family will receive friends on July 6, 2018 from 11:00AM - 1:00PM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2115 US Hwy 17, Mount Pleasant, SC, 29466.
The Celebration of Life Services will be July 6, 2018 at 1:00PM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2115 US Hwy 17, Mount Pleasant, SC, 29466. A burial will follow at Mount Pleasant memorial Gardens.
