Maxine C. Fairfax, 81, of Bladen, NE passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016. She was born on Saturday, December 15, 1934 in Bladen, NE to the late Charles and Grace Rakestraw Reichstine. Maxine was a long-time employee of The Post and Courier and an active member of Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed canning jams and jellies, and was a season-ticket holder of the Stingrays where she was an avid cowbell ringer. Maxine put everyone before herself, and was known for thoughtfully sending cards to loved ones. Her family will remember her as a nurturing, Christian woman. Besides her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by her siblings: Dwight, Curly, Marvin and Bud Reichstine; and her former husband, George Mizzell. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Fairfax, of Charleston, SC; children: Curtis Mizzell and his wife, Nancy, of Westfield, MA; Scott Mizzell of Charleston, SC; George Mizzell, Jr. of PA; Gregg Mizzell of Charleston, SC; Alicia Wasson of Charleston, SC and Lindsey Mathews and her husband, Dr. Joseph Mathews, of Summerville, SC; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and her sister, Darlene Smith of AZ. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church, 754 Rutledge Avenue, Charleston, SC 29403. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, but memorial contributions may be made to Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church, 754 Rutledge Avenue, Charleston, SC 29403.
