Maureen Elizabeth Westray of Lambertville, New Jersey, daughter of Richard Garley Westray and Roslyn Marie Westray passed away peacefully at home with family at her side on September 8, 2021.
Maureen was born at Southside Hospital, Bay Shore, New York on June 16, 1955. She attended local public schools and graduated from Connetquot High School. She lived in Bohemia, New York with her parents until they relocated to Charleston, South Carolina in 1980. She received an associate degree in horticulture from Trident Technical College. She was self-employed in the Charleston City Market where she sold Charleston gifts and souvenirs for almost 30 years. She relocated to Lambertville, New Jersey in 2010 to live with her sister and brother.
Maureen loved nature, especially small animals, and enjoyed her work at the Charleston City Market where she had many friends. Maureen's favorite song was "Moon River", and she loved the music of John Denver. She excelled at counted cross stitch and embroideries. She had an extensive collection of hand-carved, hand-painted wooden birds.
Maureen is survived by her sisters Rosemary Repeta and Kathleen Westray and her brothers Richard and David (Mary-Beth) Westray.
She is also survived by her cousins Arlene Ritter (Brad), Pattie Legacy (Bernie), Ted Westray, Kathy Hetherington (John), Mary Schmidlin (Eric), John Sarafin (Siobhan), and many nieces and nephews.
After a private family service, she will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island with her parents and deceased brother-in-law Louis Repeta.
