Matthew Bernard Wiest

Matthew Bernard Wiest, 33 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on
Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Born on July 28, 1989, in Charleston, SC he was the son of Donald and Cathye
(Mantooth) Wiest.

Matthew graduated from James Island High School and received his Bachelors
degree (Psychology) from the College of Charleston in 2013. Matthew loved
fishing, the ocean, hiking, skiing, competitive games, (like corn hole, especially
when he was winning), his family, and our dog Roxy. Matthew’s friends and
family meant everything to him.

Matthew is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Bernard J Wiest, Anne S.
Wiest, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, maternal grandparents, Hugh M. Mantooth, and
Miriam H. Hardman of Kathleen, Georgia, and uncles Gregory Wiest of Louisiana
and Stephen Hugh Mantooth (Vicky) of Sarasota, Florida.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Donald and Cathye (Mantooth) Wiest and
sister, Catrina Wiest Schroder (Michael), uncle Anthony Lee Mantooth, of
Kathleen, Georgia, and aunt Dianne Wiest, of New York, and many loving cousins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm with
sharing time beginning at 7:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home - James
