Penny Brooks, also known by her given name Matilda Elizabeth Josephine Brooks, passed away at home early Saturday morning on November 13th, 2021.
Penny was born on June 13th 1962 in her beloved hometown of Londonderry, Northern Ireland. She was Christened in St Columbs Cathedral and attended the primary school there with her two younger sisters. She was the eldest of five daughters and remained devoted to family and Ireland her entire life.
When the family returned to America from the UK in 1977, Penny was a teenager and learned she had to adapt quickly to a new culture. But when Penny met her soulmate Dale Brooks, she had found her home away from home. While the US Navy had moved them around the country, they always managed to come back to Charleston and when they bought a house in Goose Creek, they lived right across the street from her parents.
Penny had a shrewd business mind and could school you in making any kind of deal. She enjoyed yard-saling, bingo, music, dancing, and cruises. She had a personal relationship with God and her faith never wavered through good times and bad. She loved spending time with her family and devoted her self to her children, Shaun Brooks, and Erin Brooks and her grandchildren Angelina, Areanna, and Alisia, and of course, her husband Dale.
She will be missed dearly by her sisters Terri Blau, Angel Stewart, Tammy Knapp, and Naomi Knapp and her father Rod Knapp. She is now in heaven with her mother Tina Knapp and her Grannie Matilda Wray.
