Mary Catherine Madden

Mary (Marie) Catherine Madden, 93, of Mount Pleasant, SC, (formerly of Greensboro, NC), passed away on Thursday July 14, 2022. She was born on December 5, 1928, in Chicago, IL and was daughter of the late Catherine Herald (Fitzgerald) and Charles Herald.

Marie loved to travel and enjoyed writing and painting. She loved animals and had many pets over the years. She was a real estate agent in Greensboro, NC for many years. She left an amazing legacy of five children, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband James William Madden II; Helen Burns, her sister; and Charles William Herald, her brother.

Marie is survived by her sisters Anella Ogden and Theresa Eichman; daughters Kelly Stieff, Terry Dillsaver, and Maggie Shoobridge; and sons James W. Madden III, and Kevin Madden.

A funeral service will be held at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1122 Russell Drive, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29464, at 11:00 AM, on Friday, July 22.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charleston Animal Society or Meals on Wheels.
