Mary Christine Laidley, 65, affectionately known as “Chris”, of Johns Island, South Carolina, passed away on July 27, 2024, peacefully at home. 

Born on January 6, 1959, in Washington DC, a beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend.

Chris retired from Safeway after 35 years of combined service between Maryland and Arizona, a dedicated and hardworking employee. She was raised in Maryland and graduated from Severna Park High School, where she excelled as a track athlete. Chris and Eric moved most recently to South Carolina to be closer to her grandbabies that Chris adored.

Chris’ journey through life was marked by her devotion to her family, her passion for cooking, learning, traveling, and her unwavering kindness. Knowing she had a relationship with the Lord Jesus gave her and her family peace. She knew where she was going, and her family knew they would all meet again. She had an amazing intuition and a sense of humor. Chris’ laughter was infectious, and her sarcasm was unmatched. Not to mention, her captivating storytelling had everyone hooked, leaving them craving more of her vibrant energy.

Chris is survived by her loving husband Eric, her 3 children; Dean Jr., Ryan, and Taylor, 3 Children by marriage; Bailey (JD), Molly, and Eric, 2 Grandchildren John David, and Paul, her mother Loretta, Aunt Betty, her siblings and spouses; Marian, Mike (Lisa), Teresa (Marty), Mark (Caprice), Matt (Phyllis), Marty (Juli), Katie and Joe (Robyn), 26 nieces and nephews and 29 great nieces and nephews all of whom will deeply miss her gentle spirit and generous heart.

Mary Christine Laidley’s story is one of love, care, and family, a life that will continue to inspire and guide us. Chris, also known as Beautiful, Flea, and Chrissy will be deeply missed but her laughter and kindness will be forever in our hearts. Some of Chris’ most memorable quotes; “It’s all good”, “Do what you want”, “Everything is a thank you”, and “Don’t worry about the two weeds”.
