Mary Elizabeth Jones Fensterle

Mary Elizabeth Jones Fensterle “MaryBeth”, age 72 died Wednesday, March 1^st, 2023 in the comfort of her home with family members.  MaryBeth was born July 21^st, 1950 in Charlotte, North Carolina to John Wesley and Josephine Sedlmayer Jones. The family moved to Charleston in 1966. MaryBeth graduated from Bishop England High School and the University of South Carolina (Columbia).  Upon graduation, MaryBeth remained in Columbia, worked in the finance and insurance industries, and married William Fensterle who preceded her in death. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Jo McCaskill (Gerald deceased).  And survived by their children Sean McCaskill (Stephanie) and Michael McCaskill (Amy).  She is survived by sister Barbara Jones (Larry House) of Summerville, South Carolina, and brother John Michael Jones of Panama City Beach, Florida, and his children Jeffrey M. Jones (Kallie), Austin, Texas, and Justin M. Jones of Santa Rosa Beach, FL.

MaryBeth moved to Charleston in 1996 where she became active in civic and cultural endeavors.  Upon her move, she reunited with an old boyfriend, Larry Kohler and they remained constant loving partners for the rest of her life. During MaryBeth and Larry’s lives together, Courtney Kohler Sito (Jason) and Walker and Emily Sito, who affectionately called her “GranBug” became the daughter and grandchildren MaryBeth never had.

She loved her dogs, the beach, working on her downtown home and gardens, and was in the process of up fitting her new home.  MaryBeth was a gifted cook and consummate hostess orchestrating many memorable parties.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratefulness to Roper Hospice especially the three “Debbies” for their care, compassion, and sympathy in her last days.
