Mary Ellen Tsakanikas (O'Brien)

Mary Ellen Tsakanikas, 72, of Summerville, SC departed this life on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Roper St. Francis Hospital in Charleston; SC. Mary Ellen was a real estate broker with the Agent Owned Real Estate Company and was an active parishioner at Stella Maris Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife and grandmother who enjoyed spending her free time with her grandchildren and volunteering with the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. She was born on Sunday, March 7, 1943 in Bristol, PA to John and Mary Ellen O'Brien, she attended Cornwell-Egan Catholic High School Bristol Township, PA. In April 24th, 1965, she married James Tsakanikas of White Plains, NY. She is survived by her brother, Jack O'Brien (Mary Jane), of Zionsville, IN; her loving husband, James Tsakanikas, of Summerville, SC; and four sons, James Dana (Kelly) of Columbus, OH, Nicholas (Ellen) of Angier, NC, Matthew (Miriam) of Front Royal, VA, Johns (Janine) of Summerville, SC and 23 grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Msgr. Lawrence B McInerny officiating. Burial will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 in the Beaufort National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Stella Maris Church.
