Marvin Ardell Millen Sr., 87, of James Island, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Born on May 25, 1937 in Detroit, MI, Marvin was a son of the late Frank Virgil and Florence Elizabeth (McMasters) Millen.
Marvin served faithfully and honorably in the United States Navy for 20 years. He had a passion for all of his cats and was an avid lover of owls. He enjoyed being a Scout Leader in the Boy Scouts of America and loved camping. Marvin also loved square dancing, roller skating, fishing, and traveling. Some of the places he traveled to were England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Japan, Spain, Portugal, and more! He will be missed and remembered forever by his family and friends.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence Millen, wife, Harriet V. Anthony, three sisters, Joanne W. Lenahan, Barbara Blackburn, and Sharon Kirby, two brothers, George Gilkey and Dennis Millen.
Marvin is survived by a daughter, Sheryl L. Strohm (Michael), two sons, Marvin A. Millen, Jr. (Dora F.) and Mark A Millen (Linda M.), stepson, David A. Walker, five grandchildren, Darren G. Hardman, Adrien M. Strohm, Lindsey B. Perry (Bryan R.), and Sara E. Millen, two great grandchildren, Taylor N. Perry and Erik R. Perry.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Per Marvin's wishes, his ashes will be buried at sea.
