Marvin Dancy, 72, husband to Jannifer Melvin Dancy of 49 years, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 after a brief illness at a local hospital.
Born on October 17, 1949 to Martin Dancy and Josephine Washington Dancy of Eagle Lake, Texas.
Marvin attended Trident Technical College. He served in the United States Air Force as a logistics specialist and was honorably discharged in 1975. Marvin was a maintenance supervisor at Graystar on Daniel Island for 15 years. He liked to fish and was the most awesome fan the Dallas Cowboys ever had. He was a handy wood worker, and he enjoyed spending time spoiling his granddaughter Charidan and his cat Sampson. Marvin served as a deacon in the church and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, Marvin is survived by a daughter Sonserae (Charles) Miller of North Charleston, SC and his granddaughter Charidan. He is also survived by his sisters Maudesta Hurd (Sam), Josie Bankston (Morris), Roberta Middleton (Fred) and Bessie Mae Dancy. He is predeceased by his brothers, Lehmann Dancy, Freeman Dancy, and Lemuel Dancy and a sister Lizzie Anderson (Vernon). Marvin is survived by his sister-in-laws Marilyn M Goodson, Jeraldine M Heyward (Melvin) and Winifred M Cooper. Marvin is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and family friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 10th, 2022 at 1pm at Old Fort Baptist Church, Summerville, SC
the service will follow the visitation at 2pm at the church. The burial will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery at a later date.
