Martha Craig 'Marty' Williams (Craig)

Martha Craig Williams, 81, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014. Born July 28, 1933 in Anderson, IN, she was pre-deceased by her mother, Blanche Craig Pitts Snow, in 1994 and her father, Carl Franklin Craig, in 1944. Her former in-laws, Betty and Sydney Williams, also of Anderson, both passed away in the 1980s. Martha (Marty) is survived by her sister, Carol Darlene Craig (born March 20, 1943), who lives in Indianapolis, by her son, Thomas Michael Williams and his wife, Tammy, from Kokomo, IN, by her daughter, Karen Williams Fraser and her husband, Chris, from Charleston, SC and by 5 grandchildren (Christi & Brantley Fraser, Evan Craig Reinhold, Adam & Samantha Williams) and 1 great grandson (Caiden Williams). Marty was born and raised in Anderson and graduated in 1951 from AHS. She was also an honor graduate from Ft. Wayne International Business College in 1952. Upon graduation, she worked for 8 years in the Personnel Department of Delco Remy Division, GMC. She raised her 2 children and then returned to work in 1985 as Office Manager and Erie Insurance agent for Bybee Insurance Services, Inc. in Anderson, IN. Marty retired in 2003 and moved to Charleston, SC, for 5 years, before returning home to Anderson to be with her friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friends during monthly dinners, birthday celebrations, and breakfast gatherings on a regular basis, where they shared lots of laughs and many fond memories. She returned to Charleston in March 2014 to reside with her daughter and son-in-law. Marty was a member of Central Christian Church and Psi Iota Xi Sorority Auxiliary. A memorial service will be held at the church at 923 Jackson Street, Anderson, Indiana on January 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Rick Vale will preside. Burial will immediately follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with a reception for friends at the church at the conclusion.
