Martha C. "Marty" Kirchner
April 7, 1929 — February 7, 2017
Mary Martha Kirchner, 87, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina entered into eternal rest, February 7, 2017.
She was born on April 7, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Francis and Miriam (Franklin) Cavanaugh.
Marty graduated from Wyoming High School in Glendale, OH, married the love of her life, Kelly Kenneth Kirchner, in 1949 and then resided in Mt. Pleasant where they raised their eight children. She enjoyed quilting, reading, sewing and spending time with her family and friends in the Dawson Terrace and Sweetgrass Neighborhoods. Marty was a long time member of Christ Our King Catholic Church, the Women's Club of Charleston, and the Charleston Quilt Guild. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her eight children; Kenneth J. Kirchner (Beth) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Frances K. Seyle (Ron), Papillion, NE, Donna K. Melvin (John), of Aiken, SC, Ruth Ann K. NeSmith (Jim), of Summerville, SC, Cinda K Seyle (Gary), of McClellanville, SC, John K. Kirchner, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Donald A. Kirchner (Gina), of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and W. Patrick Kirchner (Lisa), of North Charleston, SC; ten grandchildren, Kelly Klostermeyer (Mike), Clete Seyle, Will Kirchner, Aubry Melvin, Kristin Thurber(Derek), Kindall Smith (Todd), Brett Seyle (Natalie), Adam Kirchner (Britany), Nicholas Kirchner (Mikayala), Amber Braun (Kevin); ten great grandchildren, Blake, Rhyan, Easton, Cannon, Hudson, Harper, Aleah, Brandon, Aiden and Christopher; two sisters, Patricia C. Roberts and Kathleen Cavanaugh; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 49 years, Kelly Kenneth Kirchner; one brother, Donald Paul Cavanaugh; one grandson, Brian Allen Seyle; sister-in-law, Dorothy K. Collie; cousin, Mildred Knight.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
A Rite of Christian Burial will be held at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1122 Russell Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:30 AM.
Burial to follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
