Marjorie J. Norris

Marjorie “Marj' Rose Jennings Norris, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed from this life on Saturday, August 29, 2015. She was born on Wednesday September 26, 1923 in Burlington, VT to Lula Talbert Jennings and William Jennings. Marj was a long time member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, as a member of the choir and church receptionist. In her teens she had a weekly radio spot singing favorites and requests live on air, and she continued to love and make music all through her life. She was a Medical Assistant in Spring Valley, NY and Port Richey, FL during her years in those locales. While she lived in Hanover, NH she had a knitting studio and was a school secretary. She is survived by two sons, James S. Norris (Gloria), of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and David Jennings Norris, of Angleton, TX; one daughter, Barbara Norris (husband, Anthony Fast), of Asheville, NC, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband of sixty years, Richard R. Norris, of Mt. Pleasant, SC. A Funeral Service will be held at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 302 Hibben St, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464, on September 14th, at 11:00 a.m. with Gary Bullard and Tom Herrington officiating. Inurnment will be at the columbarium in the Montreat Memorial Garden at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the music program at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
