Marjorie Stratton Harm

Marjorie Stratton Harm, 85, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. 

Born on March 17, 1938, in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Nola Frye Stratton and the late John Stratton. 

Marjorie grew up in the northeast and cherished memories of her childhood spent in Maine and Connecticut.  In 1956 she graduated from Ellsworth Memorial High School in South Windsor, CT.  She then joined the work force at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT. It was here that she  met her future husband, Frederick Harm.  After marrying Fred in 1963 and starting their family, she became a devoted homemaker.  She seized every opportunity to serve her children, including volunteering as classroom mother, being President of Eli Terry Elementary School's PTO, coaching softball teams and driving the kids to endless after school activities.  An avid seamstress and crafter with meticulous attention to detail, Marjorie could make flawless clothes and adorable home decor items. In addition, she had a passion for entertaining friends and families in her home. She delighted in making happy memories for those she loved.  In 2003 she and Fred moved to Charleston, SC to be close to their grandchildren.  She and Fred enjoyed traveling in retirement and enjoyed trips to Alaska, Europe, Russia, Australia and a cruise through the Panama Canal. 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Milton and James Stratton. 

Marjorie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Frederick Harm; daughter, Pamela Pride (Eric); son, Michael Harm; and grandsons, Brody Pride and Andrew Pride.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley, with a memorial service following at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lowcountry Community Hospice House, 374 Myers Road, Summerville, SC 29483.
