Marie Howard Mizzell, a pillar of strength and love, passed away on February 3, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate through generations. Born on January 3, 1951, in Ludowici, GA, Marie was the embodiment of devotion, compassion, and family values.
Marie's life was a testament to the power of love and commitment. She dedicated herself to building a family legacy that will endure for many years to come. As a devoted wife, mother, and friend, Marie touched the lives of those around her with grace and kindness.
Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, John C. Mizzell, her daughter Margaret M. Inabinett, sister Ann Pitts, and brother Marion Howard. Their memories are cherished, and their legacies live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
She is survived by her son, John C. Mizzell, II, and daughter, Jennifer Mizzell Crosby and son-in-law, Travis S. Crosby, and her brother, Richard Howard. Marie's love extended to her grandchildren, Anna-Marie Barfield, Margaret Barfield, Cole Barfield, Trevor Crosby, Autumn Crosby, Victoria Crosby, Sara Mizzell, and Corbett Mizzell. These cherished individuals were the light of her life, and their bond remains unbreakable.
Marie leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven through the threads of love, laughter, and shared experiences. Her spirit lives on in the many nieces, nephews, beloved family members, and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation – James Island, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 2:00pm at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
