Dr. Marianne McManus of Charleston SC and Santa Monica, CA, age 85, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Mt Pleasant, SC. She was born in New York City, the daughter of the late Dr. James McManus and Mary Lee McManus. She graduated from the College of New Rochelle. After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, she served on the facilities of the University of Wisconsin in Madison and Iowa State University where she was tenured. Dr. McManus was a highly respected consultant to corporations, law enforcement groups and charitable organizations. She was invited to lecture in France, India, and Japan on topics of selection and disaster management. She is the author of the book Quake Stress, co-published in the USA and Japan. She served on the California Governor’s Advisory Committee on Nuclear Emergency Planning. Dr. McManus is survived by her brother Attorney James McManus, a niece Attorney Mary McManus-Smith, nephews James McManus and Thomas McManus and their families. In addition, she is survived by beloved cousins in New Jersey and Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood, NY. A funeral mass will be held on TBD at the Cemetery of the Holy Cross, 3620 Tilden Ave Brooklyn, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, www.redcross.org.
