Maria Magdalena Woltmann

Maria Magdalena Woltmann, 85 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Born on July 5, 1939, in Hofweier, Germany, Maria was the daughter of the late Frieda (Dietrich) Goppert and the late Ernst Goppert.

Maria enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was involved in nursing home ministry and serving in local churches throughout her life. Most recently the Higher Ground Christian Church in Afton, NY.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Ernst Goppert and Frieda (Dietrich) Goppert; two brothers, Arnold Goppert and Bruno Goppert; sister, Freidel Graff and brother-in-law Heinz Graff.

Maria is survived by her husband of 64 plus years, Manfred “Dutch” Woltmann; two daughters, Cindy Donnelly (Kevin) and Danya Crossman (Jeremiah); four grandchildren, Kristin Bennett (Jonathan), Kyle Donnelly (Courtney), Lauren Wallen, and Hunter Wallen; great-grandson, Kellan Donnelly and a soon to be born great-grandson; sister, Anita Wasmer (Klaus); brother, Karl Heinz; sister-in-law, Hedi Goppert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00am at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation – West Ashley, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
