Mrs. Margaret Park Sheedy, age 106, of Charleston and recently of Jacksonville, FL and widow of the late John Patrick Sheedy, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in Jacksonville.
Margaret Sheedy was born on February 15, 1911 in Columbia, SC to the late Samuel and Estelle Park. Mrs. Sheedy was a retired kindergarten teacher, was an organist for over 50 years at Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and was the organist at Our Lady of Good Counsel until her second retirement. She was active her entire life with school organizations, Catholic Women’s clubs and was a member of the Theresians. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Survivors include her two daughters, Agnes S. Moore of Jacksonville and Angela S. Heissenbuttle (Ray) of Charleston; six grandchildren, Robert Moore, Cynthia Ray, John Moore, Mathew Heissenbuttle, Paula Carroll, and Allyson Carroll; five great-grandchildren, Daniel Moore, Hannah Moore, Noah Ray, Baylee Ray, and Carly Moore; and one great-great-granddaughter, Isla Rose Moore.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret S. Carroll, her grandson, Charles Patrick Carroll, and her great-grandson, Samuel Sheedy Moore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 106 W Erie Ave, Folly Beach, SC 29439. Mrs. Sheedy will lie in repose at the church between 9-11 AM.
Rite of Committal will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
